TWO Herefordshire primary schools will remain closed today after both were damaged following extensive flooding last week.
Ivington Church of England Primary School, near Leominster, was one of several schools in the county that were forced to close last week following the flash floods.
The school announced its closure on Wednesday (October 16) due to the substantial amount of water in the building.
The primary school has said it cannot reopen until Tuesday, October 22, due to additional time being needed to ensure the premises are thoroughly cleaned and safe for staff and pupils.
Pictures posted to the school's Facebook page show several classrooms with water damage to the floors, and carpets that have been ripped up.
In the south of the county, Peterchurch Primary School was also affected by the extreme weather conditions, with firefighters pumping out flood water from the school.
An update on Herefordshire council's live school closure page said that despite the best efforts of external teams and staff members to clean up the school in preparation for reopening, it would not be ready to open today (October 21).
