A rural Herefordshire road was subject to an EMERGENCY closure yesterday, after a dramatic pylon fire.
Emergency services rushed to the scene yesterday (October 20) at 10.18 am, after a pylon had caught fire with cables arcing in Leysters, Leominster.
The incident involved cables hanging at ground level across the carriageway, with the road being subject to an emergency closure while the incident was ongoing.
Fire crews attended the scene, using a hose reel jet and thermal imaging camera to tackle the blaze, with the road closed in both directions to allow for work to take place.
National Grid, BT Open Reach and highways also attended, with an engineer cutting the cable and removing it from the road.
There were no casualties from the scene, however, officers from West Mercia police force were in attendance. The incident was marked as pending closure at 12:13pm.
