This is a reader's letter published in the Hereford Times on October 24.
A big, big thank you to the Welsh Water employee who aided me and my friend, a wheelchair user, on October 16 when we were sheltering under an inadequate tree in Breinton road.

The heavens had opened and my suggestion of ‘a little stroll for a breath of fresh air’ was beginning to seem a serious misjudgement!

A Welsh Water van passed us, then pulled into the layby and a young man jogged back, with a wonderfully large, very orange coat to loan us and to ask if he could help further. With this protection against the elements, we were able to make a dash for home!
He told me that this was his first week on the job. He will be a great asset to the company. This was customer service plus, plus, plus!
My faith in human nature is restored. Thank you!
