This is a reader's letter published in the Hereford Times on October 24.

LAST month I had a cancer operation on my bladder in Hereford County Hospital.

It was supposed to be one of those in-and-out one-day jobs. But because they were running late my turn did not come till well on in the evening, and because I am a “very old girl” they kept me in a couple of days.

How can one not be impressed by the friendliness of doctors and the ever smiling nurses creating a safe, efficient, and friendly atmosphere for their patients.

We know they are overworked, underpaid, understaffed. It’s one of those human miracles.

Thank you, Hereford County Hospital.
