Trains running on a busy rail route through Hereford today are expected to be cancelled and disrupted, after further issues with the train crew.

In a post on X, West Midlands Railway, which operates routes from Hereford through Ledbury and Colwall to Worcester and Birmingham, announced today that services between Hereford and Birmingham will be disrupted due to a shortage of train crew.

The rail company added that disruption to the major route is expected until the end of today (October 27). However, it added that rail replacement buses would be in place for the affected routes.

Today's announcement comes after several instances of disruption to the West Midlands route over the past two months.

In September, cancellations and delays to the West Midlands service left college students stranded at the station, with a local MP stepping in.

West Worcestershire MP, Dame Harriett Baldwin, previously wrote to the managing director of the rail operator and shared her immediate concerns with the Department for Transport.

The last-minute cancellations left many of the MP's constituents unable to travel between Hereford and Worcester and Hereford Sixth Form College.
