Hereford's Chris McCausland has been SAVED from being eliminated from Strictly Come Dancing, after narrowly missing a dance-off.

Tonight (October 27) the duo were told that despite a good performance, they had come joint last from yesterday's performance.

Thankfully, the public vote that is added to the duo's scores each week following their live performance, saved them from facing the dance floor.

Instead, Punam Krishan and her dance partner Gorka Marquez faced the dance-off against former X Factor winner Shayne Ward and Nancy Xu following the public vote.

McCausland and Buswell looked overwhelmed as their fate was announced, embracing each other as they learnt they would be returning next week.

When asked by the judges about their relief, McCausland said yesterday "wasn't his finest moment", before thanking the viewers at home for their votes.

After the two lowest- ranking couples took to the dance floor, the judges decided to save Ward and Xu from elimination.

McCausland and Buswell took to the dancefloor yesterday (October 26) to perform a "supernatural"  samba to Stayin’ Alive by the Bee Gees.

The duo joined the ten remaining couples on the glitzy dancefloor once again, with performers and judges dressed in spooky attire.

Dressed in a sparkly suit and frazzled wig, McCausland grooved along the floor in between gravestones with Buswell to pick up a score of 26.

Judge Motsi Mabuse hailed it as a “fun way to open the show” and said he had “nailed the character”.

Head judge Shirley Ballas also praised his characterisation and thought he did “incredibly well” but “overcooked the bounce” in the dance. However, she added that the pair's characterisation of the graveyard in the performance was "amazing".
