A HOME in a Hereford street was set on fire by a firework this weekend.

A fire crew was called to Chestnut Drive, Hereford, at about 7.45pm on Saturday night (October 26).

The fire service said a firework had hit the extension roof of a semi-detached house, but was extinguished before the fire service got to the scene.

A spokesperson for Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service (HWFRS) said the crew used a ladder to remove the firework, with a hose reel jet and thermal imaging camera also being used by firefighters.

"A HWFRS crew was called at 7.45pm on October 26 to Chestnut Drive, Hereford," the spokesperson said.

"A firework hit the extension roof of a semi-detached property but had been extinguished before the arrival of the fire service. A triple extension ladder was used to remove the firework with a hose reel jet and thermal imaging camera also used. The incident was marked as pending closure at 8.17pm."
