A WOMAN from Hereford is celebrating after receiving an award recognising her "outstanding work" in the health and social care sector.

Sarah Ellis of Hoople won the care trainer award at the Hereford Times Health and Social Care Awards 2024, recognising her hard work in training care staff.

Ms Ellis was honoured for providing a high standard of care training to many businesses across Herefordshire.

She was unable to attend on the night of the ceremony, October 3, with her son collecting her award in her absence.

In a statement after the ceremony, she said: "I was delighted to receive the award. It’s a privilege to share my experience and knowledge to enhance the skills of my delegates.

"I was sad not to be at the ceremony to celebrate the achievements of carers in Herefordshire, many of whom I have worked with or trained. My son, who works for Hoople, was able to pick up the award on my behalf. I enjoyed a more modest presentation in my classroom."

The award is sponsored by Joghide Home Care.
