A HEREFORDSHIRE youth trust has extended its temporary closure, over concerns about  "poor" and "disrespectful" behaviour.

The Basement Youth Trust in Ross-On-Wye released a statement on September 23, explaining that the club had made the tough decision to temporarily close due to concerns over the behaviour.

The statement, posted on their Facebook page, said that the club would be closed for a staff meeting the following day, due to "continued poor behaviour and disrespectful behaviour towards staff, peers and disturbance of surrounding areas of the club."

The statement added that the club runs on basic rules of "respect, kindness and honesty" and recently these rules had not been "followed or respected".

"The youth workers at the club are highly driven and dedicated to supporting the young people of Ross, however in the past few weeks, it’s been incredibly hard to manage the behaviours and disrespect that has continued to take place in the club.

"To all users of the club who continue to use the club in a respectful and kind way, we are sorry that this is affecting you being able to attend this week. We will keep you updated."

The trust has now announced an extension to the temporary closure following the incidents.

The trust, based in Hill Street, provides "positive activities" for young people in Ross on Wye and surrounding areas.
