We've selected some of the most shocking cases we have reported on throughout October.
Here are those cases, and, where applicable, the sentences they resulted in.
'Terrorist' convicted of attempted murder
A knifeman from Hereford who stabbed an asylum seeker in the chest at a hotel after writing his own “terrorist manifesto” has been found guilty of attempted murder.
Callum Ulysses Parslow’s trial was told the 32-year-old, who has Adolf Hitler’s signature tattooed on his left forearm, tried to send a post to X before his arrest claiming he “just did my duty to England” by trying to “exterminate” his victim.
'Prolific' shoplifter banned from shops
A man from Ross-on-Wye with a history of shoplifting has been banned from entering retail premises in the market town.
Michael Negri, 60, of Old Market Close in Ross-on-Wye, was handed a criminal behaviour order (CBO) at Hereford Magistrates’ Court.
Man found guilty of harassment
A Hereford man has been found guilty of harassment after denying a charge.
Joshua Newbury, 32, appeared before magistrates in Kidderminster after entering a not guilty plea to one count of breaching a CBO.
US 'soldier' pleads guilty to dangerous driving
A US citizen who fled the UK after a car crash which left a mental health nurse unable to walk has pleaded guilty following his extradition.
Issac Calderon, whose occupation was originally given in court as a "soldier", appeared at Kidderminster Magistrates’ Court where he admitted causing serious injury by driving a Honda Accord dangerously on July 31 last year.
Homeless Audi driver jailed
A homeless Audi driver has been jailed and banned from driving after he was caught drug-driving in Herefordshire almost five years ago.
Alin Nicolae Ene pleaded guilty to one count of driving a motor vehicle with a proportion of a specified controlled drug above the specified limit.

Shoplifter jailed for stealing huge haul of snacks, drinks and vapes
A thief has been jailed for stealing a large amount of snacks, vapes and alcohol from Herefordshire shops.
Andrew Stutchbury, 31, pinched his goodies, totalling well over £500, from the Co-Operative and Applegreen shops in Leominster.
