Hereford and South Herefordshire MP Jesse Norman has been named shadow leader of the Commons in the new shadow Cabinet announced by Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch.

The position involves working with the Leader of the House to arrange Commons business, and holding the government to account in how it runs the House.

Earlier Mr Norman welcomed Ms Badenoch's leadership election win, announced at the weekend.

Commenting now, Mr Norman said: "This is a great step forward, and all the better for seeing another glass ceiling smashed.

"But now the work really begins, as Kemi and the wider party begin the process of renewal."
