This is a reader's letter published in the Hereford Times on November 7.
CAN someone at Highways explain why there are still two road works traffic light systems near the Ashton bends, on the A49 north of Leominster?
They have been there for well over a week. Nobody there. No tools, no equipment, no men. Just lights, bollards (now scattered about), and traffic queue times four.

In the silly old days the work gangs would turn up with their own lights, do the job, then leave.
There was a set there for a week a few months ago, and nothing executed. Contractors should be allocated a specific window, or pay so much a day for closure of road. All that traffic represents time lost for every vehicle, many attempting to deliver goods and services.
