This is a reader's letter published in the Hereford Times on November 7.
MAY I ask when does the council think we will get our gutters cleaned and drain gratings lifted to clean them properly in south Hereford?
They are so blocked with leaves and rubbish that you can’t even see some of them!

The leaves, as usual, are being left to rot in the gutters and on the grass, so next spring there will not be any spring flowers.

The trees also need some attention. Their branches are growing around the telephone lines, so strong winds may bring the lines down. Someone was saying we seem to have fewer birds nesting, but what do you expect when the trees are so big and thick, a nesting bird would not see a predator. Why are the trees allowed to grow so high and block out the light from the street lights?
A surveyor needs to take a walk around some of the estates and see some of the trees, as they used to.
