This is a reader's letter published in the Hereford Times on November 7.

WHY is Southbank Road still closed to traffic?

Yes a retaining wall collapsed. Yes they’ve put temporary sandbags in place to support the exposed bank. Everyone treated the road as a ‘give way’ at that narrow point anyway.

Is it because it’s now dangerous? If so, why on earth can I walk or cycle up or down it, completely unprotected when I can’t drive along it in a protective steel box?
