A TEENAGE driver has been banned from the roads after he was caught drug-driving near the colleges in Hereford.
Thomas Thorne entered a guilty plea to one count of driving while over the drug limit when he appeared before magistrates last month.
The court heard from prosecuting solicitor Thomas Wickstead that the 19-year-old had been caught out on Hereford’s Aylestone Hill, which is near the sites of Hereford Sixth Form College, Hereford College of Arts and Herefordshire, Ludlow and North Shropshire College on July 13.
He was behind the wheel of a Dacia Sandero while over the drug-driving limit.

An evidential blood test revealed that Thorne, who was represented at the hearing by defence solicitor George Cousins, had 2.6 micrograms (mg) of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol per litre of blood. The legal limit is two mg.
Thorne, of Langdale Road, Hinckley, Leicestershire, was disqualified from driving for 12 months and fined £150 for the offence, with magistrates in Hereford saying that they had taken his guilty plea into account when imposing the sentence.
He was also ordered to pay court costs of £85 and a £60 victim surcharge, which is used to help fund services supporting victims of crime.
