A HISTORIC Herefordshire hotel has been put on the market, with a price tag of £2.5 million.
The Grade II* listed venue, Penhros Court in Lyonshall has gone on the market with estate agents Lambert Smith Hampton.
The vast venue, which has been named as a “former celebrity hideaway”, has seven “luxurious” self-contained holiday cottages, a grand three-bedroom dwelling, an on-site restaurant café, and even a medieval inspired pub.
The Grade II* listed buildings date back as far as the 13th century, and over the years have seen some fascinating guests.
The estate agents have said that in 1975, it is rumoured that Queen spent three weeks here to rehearse the iconic Bohemian Rhapsody for their fourth studio album, A Night At The Opera. Later that decade, in 1977, Monty Python's star and writer Terry Jones set up a microbrewery in the former cattle byre.

The buildings have an idyllic view across the market town of Kington, and is secluded in the rural Herefordshire countryside.
The estate agents have said that construction of an indoor swimming pool has begun on the property, but the works have been put on hold. They have said this presents an opportunity for a new owner to complete the project, as an attribute to the holiday cottages.
Discussing the potential business opportunities, the listing added that Penrhos Court has the scope to become a wedding venue. It added that whilst it does not currently operate as one, it is a “frequently asked question” and something a prospective buyer may want to consider.
