A NEW service has opened its doors in one Herefordshire town.

For over a decade, the Marches Counselling Service has been providing high quality, affordable counselling and psychotherapy for adults in Herefordshire, from their base in Hereford city, online and by phone.

And now counselling and psychotherapy is available in Bromyard, using a room at the Halo Bromyard Centre.

North Herefordshire MP Ellie Chowns and Bromyard's mayor, councillor Mark Franklin, were among the invited guests who met with therapists from MCS to hear more about the service.

Ms Chowns said: “I’m delighted that MCS can now provide their psychotherapy and counselling services in Bromyard, in this new comfortable space at the Halo Centre. I hope this will make a big difference for people in Bromyard and nearby villages, by making it easier to access the invaluable services MCS provides to our community.”

The charity fundraises to support the cost of therapy and counselling for clients on low incomes, while asking those who can to pay the full cost. Some clients also have counselling funded by their employers.

After a detailed 90-minute assessment session with a highly experienced therapist, MCS offers long and short-term therapeutic work, to help with issues such as depression, anxiety, relationship problems, trauma or destructive patterns. MCS also works with couples and family members who are struggling in their relationships.

Bromyard Centre manager Marcus Ashcroft said: "Halo is proud to host MCS at our Bromyard Leisure Centre, it is a great service, fantastic for those in the local community that need the support and are now able to access it. We know how important our physical health and well being is, but also that our mental health is just as important and we will support MCS and their clients as best we can."
