West Mercia police have issued a notice after a "suspicious" incident in a Herefordshire village.
A notice on Neighbourhood Matters has been issued after an incident in St Peter’s Close, Moreton on Lugg on Sunday evening (November 10) around 6:30 pm.
The alert said that a resident reported a loud knocking on their front door. Upon checking, they found a slate sign with "Church House Farm" left on their doorstep, with no one visible in the area. After placing the sign on their porch, there was another knock a few minutes later, and the sign had been returned to the doorstep.
The spokesperson added: "While this may have been intended as a prank, it understandably caused some distress. The resident has since returned the sign to its rightful owner, but we’d like to gather more information to understand who might be responsible.
"We ask anyone living nearby, particularly around Cedar Close or Church House Farm, to check their CCTV if available.
"If you noticed any unusual activity on Sunday evening, please share it with us. Our team will be increasing evening patrols in the area over the next few days to monitor for any similar behaviour.
"If you or someone you know has experienced anything like this recently, or if you have any information that might help, please don’t hesitate to let us know. Your help is invaluable in keeping Moreton on Lugg a safe and welcoming community."
