A SIGN has been left outside a Herefordshire home in a bizarre incident reported to police.

The slate sign was found on a doorstep in St Peter's Close, Moreton on Lugg, at around 6.30pm on Sunday, November 10 after the resident heard a loud knocking at their front door.

Police community support officer Adam Westlake said that, when the resident opened their door, they found a slate sign with 'Church House Farm' written on it left on their doorstep and no-one visible in the area.

After placing the sign in their porch, there was another knock a few minutes later and the sign had been returned to their doorstep, PCSO Westlake said.

"While this may have been intended as a prank, it understandably caused some distress," said PCSO Westlake.

"The resident has since returned the sign to its rightful owner, but we’d like to gather more information to understand who might be responsible.
