AN ABUSIVE Hereford man has been given a community order after attacking an emergency worker.
Carl Phillips, 43, admitted assaulting an emergency worker by beating and using threatening or abusive words or behaviour on September 19.
Prosecuting solicitor Lauren Millichip said Phillips assaulted a male police constable in Hereford while he was acting in the exercise of his functions as such a worker.

Phillips also used threatening or abusive words or behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress, which is a public order offence. The court heard that he behaved in this disorderly way within the hearing or sight of another person who was likely to be caused harassment, alarm or distress as a result of his actions.
Phillips, of Green Croft, Hereford, was ordered to pay compensation of £100 to the police officer.
He was also handed a 12-month community order with 15 days of rehabilitation activities and must pay a £50 fine.
