HEREFORD'S winter night shelter will be opening its doors to homeless people from next week.

The shelter will be opening its doors from 8pm on Monday, December 2, at Arrow Building, Symonds Street, Hereford HR1 2HA.

Herefordshire Council and community organisations work together to provide a warm safe place to sleep for those rough sleeping in the county each year, with a range of charities supporting homeless people coordinated through the Herefordshire Homeless Forum.

Christine Price, chief officer of Healthwatch Herefordshire and chair of Herefordshire Homeless Forum said the support offered throughout the year includes finding new homes, day, evening and weekend services with free food, showers, specialist advice, supported accommodation, and access to health and wellbeing services.

"Anyone can become homeless at any time, for a wide range of reasons," she said.

"But, everyone deserves a safe, secure place to call home and we're incredibly grateful to local people, businesses and other organisations who support these charities."
