Hereford's Strictly star has made it through to the semi-finals, after being saved by a public vote.

Comedian Chris McCausland, and his partner Dianne Buswell, looked thrilled as it was announced that they would be competing in next week's episode.

Last night (November 30) the duo took to the stage to perform the quickstep to You’re The Top from Anything Goes.

Head judge Shirley Ballas complimented the comedian, saying she thought his movement and fluidity were "absolutely outstanding".

Anton Du Beke gave him a few pointers on his arm placement, before saying "he's almost there".

Craig Revel-Horwood said he thought the comedian's posture "suffered" during the dance, but complimented his acting and movement, calling it "exceptional".

Despite the compliments, the pair picked up a score of 32, landing them in the bottom two couples along with Pete Wicks and pro-dancing partner Jowita Przystal.

McCausland and Buswell will join the remaining couples to compete in double the dancing next Saturday, with two brand-new routines to learn.

McCausland, who is originally from Liverpool, previously lived in Hereford and attended the Royal National College for the Blind.

This year, he became Strictly's first blind contestant ever. When he lost his eyesight as a result of retinitis pigmentosa, a hereditary condition, it prompted a career shift from his job in web development to becoming a comedian.

He is known to television audiences for his role as Rudi in the CBeebies show Me Too, and regularly appears at comedy venues around the UK.
