ELECTRIC bin lorries are joining Herefordshire's fleet for the first time in a bid to boost the county's green credentials.
The two new eCollect all-electric bin lorries will take to Herefordshire's roads this month.
The addition of the new lorries is a major change for Herefordshire bin collections, as they are the first all-electric bin lorries to join the county's fleet, joining more than 100 on the roads across the UK.

The lorries have been purchased as part of the new recycling and waste collection services contract between Herefordshire Council and its partner FCC Environment.

They will be collecting from homes and businesses in Hereford, close to the council's Ross Road depot.
A council spokesperson said their city route is ideally suited to the mileage range of the new battery-powered lorries, which will be charged with renewable electricity at the city depot.
Herefordshire councillor Elissa Swinglehurst said the "cutting edge vehicles" will help the council to bring a reduction in air and noise pollution to the city, with the council committed to achieving net zero by 2030.
