PARISH COUNCIL - “A door-to-door service by car and it is cheaper than a taxi,” I was told. “Can anyone living within our parish group use it?” I queried. “Yes,” they said, “it costs the same as the bus but gives the service of a taxi.” “There must be a snag.” I said. “Well, you may not be as active as you used to be, or you may use a wheelchair and you do have to give 48 hours’ notice.” “So if I want to go to the supermarket once every two weeks that is no problem?” I said. “So how do I arrange for this service?” “Just telephone 01568 615785.” I was told. PART-TIME WORK - Are you retired, have a few hours a week you can spare, and get paid for your trouble? Then call Community Wheels and ask for Michael Truelove on 01568 610284. You must own a car.

FLOODING - Last year, because of torrential rain, we experienced one instance of houses being flooded in Bishopstone and a near miss at Mansell Gamage. We wish to have sandbags stored near to these locations. If you have a dry, covered area and are prepared to hold a small stock of sandbags, please call the parish clerk on 590691.

VILLAGE LOTTERY - The winner of £25 this week was Alison Smith with number 4.

BRIDGE SOLLERS BONUS BALL - Nigel Archer won £25 with his number 4.
