RED CROSS WEEK - This will run until Saturday. Today (Thursday) you are invited to a soup lunch in St Michael’s Hall from 11.30am to 1.30pm. There will be a bring-and-buy and cake stall. Please bring anything you would like to donate. All donations will go to the British Red Cross for work in our area. PRIMARY SCHOOL - The school photographer will be calling at 9am tomorrow (Friday), for a whole school photo session. Year 6 SATs begin on May 12 so good luck everyone! Don’t forget to support the walking bus on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8.30am from the Memorial Hall.
FLICKS IN THE STICKS - There will be a showing of Elizabeth tomorrow (Friday) at 7.30pm at the Memorial Hall. Tickets cost £3.50 for adults and £2.50 for under-16s.
CATHEDRAL SCHOOL CHAMBER ORCHESTRA AND CHOIR - The orchestra and choir will give a concert at Dore Abbey tomorrow (Friday) at 7pm. Tickets cost £7 for adults, school children free. Tickets can be obtained from Mailes Butchers or on the door.
OPEN MILL - On national mills weekend, Rowlestone Mill is open from 2pm to 6pm on Saturday. For further details or opening times of other mills in Herefordshire, contact Alan Stoyel on 01544 230235.
ALL-AGE SERVICE - The next at St Michael’s Church service is this Sunday at 10am. All ages are welcome, as are any participants – readers, musicians etc. Refreshments afterwards.
OPEN GARDENS - Whitfield Court will be open to the public on Sunday from 2pm to 6pm. This is a rare opportunity to wander the lovely gardens and enjoy a cup of tea afterwards.
CHRISTIAN AID WEEK - There will be a door-to-door collection in the village during the week commencing May 11.
BIBLE STUDY - The next meeting will be on May 13, in the rectory from 10am to 11.30am. It is a time of fellowship as well as study and those new to Bible study are warmly invited.
WOMEN’S INSTITUTE - At the April meeting we were entertained by the Wye Singers, a group of local women who entertain in order to raise funds for various charities. This year, they are collecting for the Air Ambulance. At our May meeting on May 13 we will be discussing the resolutions that are to be considered at the national meeting in the summer, one of which is bottom trawling. Want to know more? Then come along to the Memorial Hall at 7.30pm. You will be most welcome.
GARDEN PARTY - Cwm and Kingstone Methodists invite you to Station House, Pontrilas, on Wednesday, May 14, from 2pm to 4pm. There will be plants, cakes, preseves, jigsaw puzzles, books, Fairtrade, tombola and a treasure hunt as well as a cup of tea. Admission is free and everybody is welcome.
COFFEE MORNING - At Rosllwyn on May 15, from 10am to 12.30pm. There will be a white elephant stall, cakes and tombola, draw and refreshments. All proceeds will go towards the upkeep of Ewyas Harold churchyard.
