PANTOMIME - The Garway and Friends’ ‘Av a Go Panto’ gave three performances last week in Garway Village Hall and then they went ‘on tour’ to Skenfrith on Saturday. The parish hall was packed to capacity as the pantomime got under way. Everything went well and there was plenty of audience participation. The local jokes had been changed to accommodate the Skenfrith audience. So much work goes into these village efforts and all should be congratulated. Speeches at the end thanked everyone who had participated and the organisers and producers must have felt happy with the audience response and the excellent turnout.
FUN DAY - This year, the fun day is on Saturday, July 12, and will have a medieval theme. The fun day committee has everything well in hand – but would be grateful for offers of help. If anyone can help in any way, especially in the kitchen, please contact Linda Penny on 01600 750512.
FUN DAY WALK - The fun day walk always was associated with the fun day, and any money raised by the walk was always added to the fun day total. Now the walk is earlier and this year it is on Sunday, May 18. The route is not yet finalised but it will not be too strenuous or long. Mike Gray has offered to lead the walk. Entry is generally by donation and £5 is suggested per adult. Children go free. There will be a barbecue following the walk when all participants will have a free hot dog or beef burger. Come and join in the fun! Meet on the castle green in Skenfrith ready for a 2pm start. The aim is to be back at the hall for the barbecue by 5pm.
