AN IDYLLIC Herefordshire cottage has been voted into the top 10 properties featured in a popular TV series.
Pearmain Cottage in Pembridge, built by Herefordshire oak specialists Border Oak, featured in the hit show Grand Designs, came in at number seven in the Channel 4 poll, beating large and more extreme projects from across the UK.
“We are absolutely delighted because Pearmain Cottage is a minnow compared to some of the projects featured by Channel 4 - not only was it filmed a long time ago, but the house came in on budget and on time without any TV trauma,” said John Greene, managing director of the Kingsland based firm.
Since the Channel 4 programme aired, Border Oak has gone from strength to strength, and currently boasts 250 employees with ongoing projects as far away as Japan.
“Our range of work is very varied at the momemt,” said John.
“But the sustainable and award winning Pearmain Cottage range has proved to be universally popular and this national vote demonstrates its appeal.
I hope it is a great example of Herefordshire craftsmanship and manufacturing.”
