THREE young women who tried to stop an assault on a man in Holme Lacy are being sought by police.

The victim was walking opposite the Game Cock pub on Holme Lacy Road at around 3am on Sunday, May 4 when he was approached by a small group who assaulted him, leaving him needing staples to a head wound.

The main offender is white, in his early 20s with light brown hair and of stocky build. He wore a distinctive hooped rugby-style top. There is no description available of a second male who was involved.

They are believed to have been with the three women,who all made unsuccessful efforts to stop the assault.

Detective Constable Pete Bradbury said: “This assault resulted in some nasty injuries for the victim, from which he is now thankfully recovering.

“We would like to talk to anyone who witnessed the assault take place - particularly the three women who were with the offenders.”
