THE highlight of the Radnor and West Hereford two day meeting over the Bank Holiday weekend at Cold Harbour near Leominster was the victory of Minsgill Mans and jockey John Tudor in the Men’s Open race for the Crudwell Cup on the second day for the second year running, writes GRAHAM SAVEKER.
On the rain-softened ground, Minsgill Mans was sent off an odds on favourite in the 10-runner race and the double was never in doubt as the partnership came home comfortable winners.
Jockey David Mansell continues to have his best ever season and he took the meeting’s two opening races, the Restricted on Day Two, aboard Deep Hall for trainer Julie Houldrey but only after a prolonged battle up the run-in with Brimham Boy and Tom Houbrooke with the winning distance a neck.
The opening day saw a shock for punters as 25/1 shot Mister Kay Bee, a chance ride for Hannah Lewis, took the Maiden race for owner Kay Baylis and trainer Roy Shail.
