CAR parking charges in Hereford are set to rise to a minimum of £1 an hour in some city car parks.
The hourly rate has been set from June 2 for short-stay car parks such as Gaol Street and West Street.
Bays in medium-stay areas such as the Garrick House multi-storey will start at 60p an hour with a maximum cost of £4 for all-day parking.
Councillor Brian Wilcox, Herefordshire Council’s cabinet member for highways and transportation, said: “The good news is that commuters can still park for just £1 a day in the largest car park at Merton Meadow and we have removed evening charges to encourage more people to enjoy a night out in the City without having to pay for parking.”
Evening charges in city centre car parks like Maylords Orchards, Union Walk and Wye Street will be removed altogether.
