THANK YOU - The Chamber of Trade and Commerce and Presteigne Twinning Association would like to thank everyone involved with the organising and supporting of the fun day held on Sunday, May 4, at Wentes Meadow. It was a great turn-out and enjoyed by everyone who attended. The proceeds will go to the running costs of the Christmas lights and the Christmas fair which is organised by the Chamber of Trade, and also to help fund trips to our twinning town, Ligne in France. Many thanks. MAY FAYRE - There is a May fayre in The Dome on the industrial estate on Bank Holiday Sunday, May 25, and Monday, May 26. This event is a selling exhibition of contemporary and antique objects for the home and garden. RAMBLERS - The East Radnor Ramblers are organising a Tour De Presteigne walk this Saturday starting at The Dome on the industrial estate at 11.30am and returning by 1pm in time for lunch. LIVE MUSIC - Your Dad meets Blakes 3 this Saturday evening in The Dome as part of the Tour De Presteigne weekend celebrations. All the fun starts at 8pm and admission is £6. VINTAGE SHOW - This year’s annual vintage car and motorcycle show is at Wentes Meadow on Sunday, June 18. Attractions will include a car boot, auto jumble, side stalls and refreshments and much more. Admission will be £3 but free for children. AGM - The Mid Border Arts is holding its AGM on Wednesday, May 28, at the Assembly Rooms at 7.30pm. Everyone is welcome to attend. COFFEE MORNING - There is a coffee morning at the Methodist Church this Saturday morning from 10.30am. There will be displays of old photographs and memorabilia. All are welcome. AUCTION - The next public auction will be on Saturday, May 31, at the Memorial Hall at noon. Goods can be entered during Friday, May 30. House clearances are welcome. Transport can be supplied. This sale will include a wide range of household goods as well as antiques, farm, office and commercial goods. The fare is £8 for members and £9 for non-members. Please book early by calling 267245. MUSICAL EVENING - There is a spring musical evening this Saturday at St Andrew’s Church in Norton at 7.30pm. Performing will be The Bravo Four, John Games, Glasnant Morgan and Menna Breeze. Admission is £5 on the door (kids free) which includes light refreshments. All proceeds will go to church funds. MUSIC - The Ok Chorale will be performing songs from the shows at the Methodist Chuch this Saturday evening from 7.30pm. TOWN COUNCIL - The next meeting of Presteigne and Norton Town Council is on Tuesday, May 20, at 7.30pm at the Shire Hall. At this meeting, any applications for the five vacancies will be heard. All applications should be with the clerk, Tracy Price, by tomorrow (Friday). Members of the public are cordially invited to attend the meeting. TRIP - There is a coach trip to Barry Island on Bank Holiday Monday run by The British Legion Club. For more details, call in at the club and speak to John Crowe. SCHOOL FOUNDERS’ DAY - John Beddoes School in Presteigne celebrated its Founders’ Day last Friday when the whole school went to St Andrew’s Church for a special Founders’ Day service. Headteacher, Glyn Richards, spoke of the acheivements of the school over the past year and of how proud he was of the students.
