HEREFORD County Hospital has been named in the top 40 of its kind in the country.

It is the second year running the County has won such an award for the services it provides.

Its high ranking followed a survey carried out by independent experts CHKS, the UK’s leading independent providers of health care intelligence and quality improvement services.

The hospital’s performance was measured in 20 different areas, including infection rates, cancelled procedures and complications, length of stay, re-admission rates, day case rates and length of time for diagnoses.

John Howden, director of human resources at the hospital, collected the award at a ceremony in London hosted by CHKS.

“Achieving this award for the second year running is a real credit to our staff and I am delighted that their hard work and dedication has once again been rewarded,” he said.

“We will continue to ensure our high standards are maintained to provide the best possible care for our patients.”
