TWINNING - Eardisland was well represented on Friday evening when the Herefordshire Forum of Twinning Associations met for its AGM in Withington Village Hall. The guest speaker was Malcolm Harbour MEP who addressed the meeting on ‘The Importance of Twinning in Europe’, which was followed by an interesting question-and-answer session. Local youth band Tunerights closed the evening with their popular style of folk music which soon had the audience dancing the night away.
BOWLS - It may have been the interval tea or a simple lack of concentration that saw Eardisland crash to a four rink defeat when they visited Ledbury on Saturday afternoon. Going in to the break virtually all square the visitors fell apart in the second period, with the most successful skip being Robin Williams, whose rink went down by a single shot as the rain swept in. The following morning saw a major success for Phil Sharp, Phil Milchard and Dave Bray in the Herefordshire men’s triples, when they overcame a strongly fancied Eastnor side 17-10 on the beautifully prepared St Martin’s green to progress to the next round. FLOWER FESTIVAL - The St Mary’s Church flower festival will be on display this Saturday, Sunday and Monday. There will be a preview and a floral demonstration in the church by Elizabeth Matheson at 6.30pm on Friday followed by wine and nibbles in the village hall at 7.30pm. The theme of the demonstration is ‘The Pleasure is Mine’. Tickets at £7 each are available from Esther Simpson on 01544 388641 or from the tea rooms.
VILLAGE SHOW - Schedules for this year’s show are now available in the church.
