GOLDEN VALLEY ENVIRONMENT GROUP MEETING - Agriculture was the subject for discussion, and NFU Herefordshire chairman, David Morgan, led the way with a hard-headed NFU appraisal of the effects climate change will have on British farming. The next meeting of the group will be at 7.30pm, on Thursday, June 19, at Peterchurch Community Centre, when Anu van Warmelo of Blitz Café will lead a discussion on ‘Ecopsychology – The psychological challenges that face us collectively and individually’. Everyone welcome. For further details, call Vanessa on 01981 550377.
PRIMARY SCHOOL - Children from Peterchurch Primary School have been getting into the swing of things, skipping like lambs this spring, to raise vital funds for the British Heart Foundation. The school has raised a fantastic £300 for the BHF by taking part in the charity’s Jump Rope for Heart scheme. The principle behind the initiative is simple. Schools sign up and receive a skipping resource kit worth £100, containing everything they will need to organise their sponsored skip event. The pack provides a month’s worth of PE lessons to enable the school to integrate skipping into their physical activity in preparation for their ‘jump off’ (sponsored skip). After perfecting their skipping techniques, the children will gain sponsorship from family and friends before bouncing into action for the jump off event.
