THE local history society is delighted to announce that it has been awarded a grant from the National Lottery through Awards for All to fund a historical survey of the buildings in the old part of the town. Many of the surviving shops and houses originated in the 15th and 17th centuries. The project is to be spread over a 12-month period, and the society plans to gather information through a detailed study of at least 50 Bromyard buildings. At the end of the project, there will be a public lecture and presentation to explain the findings. There will then be an exhibition at the history centre. A launch meeting and presentation explaining the project will be held at the Conquest Theatre on Wednesday, June 11, at 7.30pm. Everyone is welcome to attend.
