HEREFORD'S Little Mayor could be elected if a plan from Hereford's new mayor comes to fruition.
Councillor Kevin Wargen, who has just taken over as the city's 627th mayor, hopes to increase participation in the political process from school pupils and continue the Little Mayor scheme introduced by predecessor Coun Chris Chappell.
"If I can I would like to do it as an election. One of the things I am very keen to encourage is young people coming through to Hereford City Council," he said.
"I want to encourage them to come in to politics and this is one way of doing it."
Coun Wargen is also hoping to organise a concert for the county's under 18-year-olds. February has been considered as a date for the event and will will assess the attitudes of secondary school pupils to see if they are interested in the idea.
