Motorists using the Three Elms area of Hereford are being advised to leave a little extra time for the their journey this week.

Herefordshire Council is to carry out work to the speed humps - it is doing so during the half-term holiday to minimise the disturbance to traffic.

The works will involve extending the ramps leading up to the raised areas to make the rise more gentle for motorists.

This follows complaints about noise and disturbance caused by the traffic-calming scheme outside the new Whitecross School.

The work is expected to take around three to four days to complete and temporary traffic lights will be used to allow workmen to carry out the work safely.

Councillor Brian Wilcox, Herefordshire Council’s cabinet member for highways and transportation, said: “I would ask motorists and residents to bear with us while this work is carried out. We have deliberately chosen this week because there will be no school traffic.

“We’re responding to concerns raised by locals regarding noise and disruption and will monitor the changes over the coming months to asses the benefits of the changes.”
