MAPS drawn by a famous Herefordshire cartographer are up for grabs today at Weobley’s first ever “pre-loved” painting sale.
Organisers hope second-hand works by Robert Morden will provide a cash boost for church funds.
Friends of Weobley Parish Church chair Barbara Barnett said: “His maps are highly desirable and we hope it goes to a good home – and at a good price, of course!”
More than 100 pictures have been donated by residents and friends, with all proceeds going to the cause.
Norman Haynes, who organises the Friends’ August Bank Holiday Exhibition, has been assessing them and is delighted to have an original David Brunwin watercolour of Diglis Pool, Worcester.
Mr Haynes worked with the artist, who exhibited at the Mall Galleries in London, the Royal Society of Marine Artists and the Royal Institute of Watercolour Painters, for years on the bank holiday event prior to his death in 2005.
He said; “We have two most unusual Silverpoint pictures in charming frames. One is of a ballet dancer and signed by the artist, the other is not signed, but they are framed as a pair.”
Prices start from £4 and entry is free at Weobley Parish Church from 10.30am.
