BROMYARD Equestrian Centre are one of the few sporting venues in Herefordshire to have gained recognition in the London 2012 Pre-Games Training Camp Guide.
And, to underline, that status, the Centre has been asked by Great Britain Paralympic Team selector Jane Goldsmith to stage a fundraising event to boost the squad for Beijing.
On Friday, June 6, Bromyard Equestrian Centre will be hosting an evening of fun and laughter with Lee Pearson and an auction of promises and a raffle should prove a substantial injection of income for the Paralympic Squad.
“The main sponsors, Woodlander Stud and Equissage have always supported us,” said the centre’s Debbie Jones. “And along with our other sponsors, Swansons Electrics, Brightwells, Wyevale Hawkins and Easylawn, who have all put up some really generous prizes, it is going to be a great, fun-filled night.” Bromyard Equestrian Centre’s delight at inclusion in the training camp guide has been doubled by further inclusion in the Paralympic Guide for 2012.
“This means we are able to accommodate both aspects of the equestrian world,” said Jones. “To be in both the guides will surely put Bromyard Equestrian Centre and Bromyard itself on the map.” The centre hosted the British Dressage Paralympic qualifiers and team selector Julia Seal, who was present for the competition, added her endorsement.
“It was my first visit and it made a great impression on me,” she said.
“The venue is very competitor-friendly with two large arenas, one inside and one outside.
“Now we have a new and excellent venue for all riders, whether para or able-bodied.” The centre has also proved its versatility by hosting a horseball weekend when teams from all over the country arrived to take part in the sport which is described as a cross between rugby, netball and acrobatics on horseback.
Tickets for An Evening of Fun and Laughter with Lee Pearson and Matt Frost, priced £10, are available from Bromyard Equestrian Centre on 01885 400560.
