A CUTLERY set dating back to the 19th century and bearing the crest of the Baskerville family has been discovered near Hay-on-Wye.
The family of a former avid antiques collector in Clyro are downsizing and called in an antiques valuer from Shrewsbury, who made the find.
Antiques expert Martin heath said: “It’s a set of 40 pieces of cutlery dating between 1790 and 1810 which have never left the county.
“To find one piece of the Baservilles silver is rare, to find two pieces is impossible, so to find 30 pieces is unbelieveable.”
Each piece carries the silver hallmark and the crest of the Baskerville family - which is a hound with a spear through its head and five drops of blood dripping from the spear.
The cutlery set is being auctioned along with a collection of gold pieces and pocket watches, and a set of Royal cutlery dating from 1780.
They will all be auctioned by Bigwood Auctioneers in Stratford upon Avon on June 27.
