FIRE crews carried out a search of the River Wye in Hereford in the early hours of this morning after a person was suspected to have fallen in.
Three pumps from Hereford attended and two boats were deployed at around 12.15am.
No body was found despite the use of thermal imaging cameras and high-powered torches and the search was called off.
The fire service said witnesses had heard, rather than seen, something which they believed to be a person enter the river.
