AN event in Hereford will aim to raise awareness of climate change and encourage county residents to reduce their impact on the environment.
Organisers hope EarthWatch will strengthen existing community networks as well as forging new ones.
Visitors to the free event can view Herefordshire Council’s climate change initiatives, including advice on energy-saving measures available to those in the county. They can learn more about the potential effects of climate change, as well as receiving practical tips on how to reduce individual carbon and environmental footprints.
Andrew Powell, Herefordshire Council’s energy efficiency administrator, said: “As a council, it is important we help to educate the county’s residents about what they can do to limit their impact on the environment.
“Our energy efficiency grants and advice can make a real difference because the more efficiently energy is used, the lower domestic fuel bills will be.” Part of World Environment Day 2008, EarthWatch takes place at the Kindle Centre, next to the Asda superstore between June 7-9.
