DESPITE a losing start to the European Championships, Hereford's new mayor is calling for Bulls fans to back Poland.
Poland were defeated 2-0 by Germany in the opening game of the tournament last night, but with the absence of England in this year’s tournament, Hereford United fan Councillor Kevin Wargen said: “People will be going to the pub to watch the football and I cannot believe they will not support a team.
“We have a lot of Polish people in Herefordshire and we need to integrate them into the community. By asking Bulls fans to support Poland, this is a way to do it.
“If England were there, I would be wearing my England shirt with pride but we aren’t and I can’t see me sitting there watching football and not supporting a side.”
