PUPILS from Much Birch Primary have tried their hand at sheep shearing as part of a farming workshop.
The schoolchildren visited Demesne Farm in Garway as part of the county’s Year of Food and Farming project which aims to help Herefordshire children understand where the food they enjoy comes from.
They also filmed the first part of a ten-minute documentary entitled ‘Farming Here and Now’ with Herefordshire film producers Catcher Media.
Colin Howard headteacher at Much Birch School said: “We feel it is very important that our children understand how their food is produced and where it comes from.
“We are very lucky to live in such a beautiful county and to have such a good relationship with one of local farmers.”
The school has established links with local farmer Richard Sparey whose family farms in and around Garway.
