A REGULAR visitor to a Herefordshire country park was given a surprise 100th birthday present after discovering a memorial tree had been adopted in her name.
Rosina Clemmett, who lives at Orchard House care home in Withington, visits Queenswood Country Park in an electric mobility vehicle most weeks.
The surprise was arranged by Rosina's son, Kevin, who met with Herefordshire Council Ranger, Paul Ratcliffe, to find a suitable tree to mark the milestone.
The tree that was chosen is a mature Downy Japanese Maple, which is close to the Redwoods in the arboretum area.
It has a sign nearby that reads "In celebration of Mrs Rosina Clemmett's 100th Birthday, 9th June 2008".
"She loves coming to Queenswood," said Kevin Clemmett.
"We couldn't think of a better way to celebrate my mother's 100th birthday than with a memorial tree, "
Anyone wanting more information on how to adopt a memorial tree should telephone 01432 260848 or visit www.herefordshire.gov.uk/queenswood and click on the Queenswood Coronation Fund.
