AN inquest heard how a nine-year-old girl died after a family canoeing trip turned to tragedy.
Billie Clayton died when her canoe capsized throwing herself, her twin brother Edward and their TV presenter father Ian into fast flowing water in the River Wye in Powys.
The trio had hired a canoe from Black Mountains Activities on April 12, 2006 but had taken a wrong turn and were trying to turn back.
But the canoe capsized and Ian managed to grab Edward but not Billie before being swept downstream and eventually climbing to safety.
Coroner Peter Maddox said there was 'serious cause for concern' about the way canoes are rented to novices in the UK.
