A CORONER has reached a verdict of misadventure in the inquest into the death of a young girl who died following an accident on the River Wye.
Coroner Peter Maddox made his decision after rejecting a verdict of unlawful killing and ruled 9-year-old Billie Holiday Clayton died by misadventure.
Miss Clayton died when her canoe capsized throwing herself, her twin brother Edward and their TV presenter father Ian into fast flowing water in the River Wye in Powys.
The trio had hired a canoe from Black Mountains Activities on April 12 2006 but had taken a wrong turn and were trying to turn back.
But the canoe capsized and Ian managed to grab Edward but not Billie before being swept downstream and eventually climbing to safety.
