A HEREFORD woman struggling to come to terms with her divorce was found dead the day after losing her mother.

Jennifer Lyneham, 54, had started drinking heavily and had stopped work since separating from her husband in 2005. Her son found her body at their Wallis Avenue home in Hunderton in September.

Mrs Lyneham’s daughter, Angela, told the inquest her mother had attempted suicide before and “did not want to be helped”, but she did not believe her mother intended to take her own life.

Instead, she described her as having an “attention disorder”, which often saw her taking other people’s tablets.

Consultant pathologist Mark Hayes said the cause of death was likely to be a mixture of alcohol combined with the toxicity of paracetamol.

A statement from Mrs Lyneham’s doctor said she had discharged herself from the Stonebow unit in 2005 after suffering from depression and, by September 2007, had admitted to drinking up to two litres of cider a day.

Deputy coroner Mark Bricknell said Mrs Lyneham was at a low ebb following her mother’s death and problems with housing and money. But he said he did not believe she intended to take her own life and recorded a verdict of accidental death.
