MORE than 25 Herefordshire schools are set for a cash boost next week after successfully completing school travel plans aimed at reducing traffic congestion.
The schools will receive grant awards from the Department for Children, Schools and Families ranging from £4-5,000 for primary schools and £9-10,000 for secondary’s.
Next Wednesday (2nd), pupils and teachers will attend a special award ceremony at Hereford Town Hall to be presented with certificates for their achievement.
The successful schools are Brampton Abbotts Primary, Broadlands Primary, Ewyas Harold Primary, St James’ Primary in Kimbolton, Longtown Primary, Marlbrook Primary, Whitbourne Primary, John Kyrle High, Blackmarston School and The Priory Centre, Leominster.
A further 17 schools, which already have travel plans in place, will be presented with school travel achievement awards and a cheque for £500.
In addition, there will be five county schools receiving their second achievement award for making a big difference to the traffic situation around their schools.
Schools receiving their first achievement awards are; Bodenham St Michael’s Primary, Colwall Primary, Credenhill St Mary’s Primary, Kingsland Primary, Leominster Infants, Llangrove Primary, Kings Caple Primary, Much Birch Primary, St Paul’s Primary, Stoke Prior Primary, Aylestone High School and The Aconbury Centre.
The county’s star schools who are receiving their second award are; Cradley Primary, Much Marcle Primary, Staunton-on-Wye Endowed Primary, Whitchurch Primary and John Masefield High School.
