AT the Trefoil City Guild meeting on June 19, we were joined by members from other guilds and friends from the National Council of Women. Our speaker was Mr Rod Barker with the assistance of Lady de la Billiere. They gave an excellent presentation on the work of the Charity Farm Africa. It was extremely interesting and thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended. A collection and donation was presented to Rod Barker after we’d enjoyed refreshments.
On Friday, June 20, at the County Guide Rescue, some of our members were presented with awards by the county guide commissioner, Jean Parkes, and county president, Mrs Sally Willmot. Mrs Pat Burnett MBE was awarded a silver brooch for 20 years’ service to guiding as was Mrs Yvonne Hurrell who also was awarded the Herefordshire county brooch together with Mrs Sue Threfall and Miss Sheila Morris. Mrs Sue Threfall was also awarded a 10-years’ service award. Mrs Yvonne Hurrell is still an active guider, leading a Hereford brownie pack. The other ladies are all retired from active guiding but still very much involved with guide units and trefoil guilds in the county. Hereford City Guild meets once a month on the third Thursday at Westfaling Street Scout headquarters at 7.30pm. Anyone interested in joining us is welcome.
